From ocean to ocean, John Davidson has seen Canada in
a way few people do - walking it by foot. The 52-year-old London,
Ontario father walked the route, step by step, for 286 days
from April 10th, 1998 to Jan. 20th, 1999. He may be the oldest
person to accomplish the feat - Guinness Book of World Records
thinks he is. John Davidson's commitment started with his son
Jesse. Now at 20 years old, Jesse suffers from Duchene Muscular
Dystrophy.
In 1995 John Davidson's fundraising efforts culminated in what
would become "Jesse's Journey." Father and son, with
John pushing Jesse's wheelchair, crossed Ontario, from the Manitoba
border to the Quebec border. Driven by an inner strength and
heartfelt dedication, 52-year-old John Davidson went on to walk
another 8,272 km, crossing the entire nation with a team of
support. Their goal: to create an endowment that will eventually
generate $1 million per year to fund research to help find a
cure for Duchene Muscular Dystrophy.
John has written a dramatic narrative showing how one person
can make a difference. Relive the incredible, gripping journey
of a father and son’s epic crusade across Canada to raise
research dollars for a genetic illness that has no cure. Jesse’s
Journey makes a bold and profound statement. This
is a truly inspiring and captivating tale of how an ordinary
man and his son accomplished something extraordinary. Beautifully
written and bound, the book includes an interactive CD-Rom with
video clips of the historic walk. Readers acclaim Jesse’s
Journey as a fascinating narrative of inner strength,
exploration and compassion. Explore the dynamic and intriguing
behind-the-scenes story of a father’s love for his son,
and their challenge to find a cure for Jesse’s genetic
illness.
